It’s very easy as a believer who longs for the coming of our Lord Jesus, to look at the events in our world, (the collapse of vital Middle East rulers / governments, the world economic crisis, as well as enormous natural disasters… to name a few), and not come to some conclusion that we may very well be in the final moments just before Our Lord’s return. This wasn’t an uncommon belief even among the early church. However over the years as I’ve shared this hope with fellow believers, I have also heard many of these individuals deny the possibility of Jesus’ return in our lifetime. It’s almost as if His return would encroach on the plans they have for their own life. It seems as though they approach the return of Jesus as the end of life itself.
I love this quote from Sir Winston Churchill, “Now this is not the end. It is not even the beginning of the end. But it is, perhaps the end of the beginning.” This is true of the Christian life, whether we pass from this life or are caught up in the rapture; this is just “the end of the beginning”.
Whether you believe the Lord’s return will occur within the next 5 minutes or in 50 years is inconsequential, because the mandate remains the same: spread the message of the saving Gospel to all humanity. There are so many opportunities to serve in the church, especially within the children’s ministry. I trust you will faithfully serve the Lord in the area in which He has gifted and called you.
